The life of the single mother Claire, who works as a midwife in a maternity hospital, takes an unexpected turn, when her deceased father's former mistress, Béatrice, who has a terminal illness, shows up and asks for her help.

Claire is a midwife in a maternity hospital. She is very dedicated to her work and is very humane and kind to all patients. Despite all that, her life is not as good as it seems. After the maternity she works at closes its doors, she isn’t ready to work for the modern hospital, and her career starts falling apart. Her personal life isn’t the greatest either, her son is leaving home with his girlfriend Lucy and she doesn’t really have many friends. To complete her misery, her dead father’s mistress, who she dislikes, unexpectedly comes to her with tragic news seeking help. Duty or rejection, Claire is hesitant.
