After moving from London to what appears to be a picture-perfect Cotswolds town, a public relations representative quickly learns that she is a suspect in a murder case involving a poisoned quiche.

In an attempt to uncover a deadly secret, Agatha and James had to enter a local rambling club under the pretense of being a married couple.

Another villager is said to have been killed by strangulation with a bellrope by a lady. The case is sent to Agatha Raisin, who is employed to solve the case. 

Agatha gets tempted by Roy to return to the PR industry. She works at a nearby mineral water firm, but something goes wrong when someone is killed there.

On the eve of the village's best-kept garden competition, several gardens are vandalized and one of the keen competitors is killed, so Agatha begins her investigations.

Agatha meets handsome vet Paul Bladen, but the next day he is assassinated, and trouble begins.

Agatha swears to her mother Freda that she will track out the murderer of Kylie Stokes, who was slain the day after her wedding on Zac Leeson.

Agatha flees Carsely, seeking sanctuary at the massive Wyckhadden Hotel. When it looks like the local witch, Francie Juddle has been killed, Agatha walks right into another scandal.

Agatha's marriage to James Lacey becomes in jeopardy after her ex-husband Jimmy Raisin shows up out of the blue in Carsely. The police believe that Agatha is to blame for Jimmy's death.
