Pauline is a self-employed nurse in a mining area in northern France, caring for her father, who used to work in the iron and steel industry, and her two children. Nobody notices that Pauline is rapidly taking a road that no one in her family has ever followed before. She becomes a candidate for local office for a newly emerging nationalist party, which seeks to take advantage of her popularity.
