As a part of a program that seeks to integrate returning veterans into civilian life, Heidi Bergman welcomes Walter Cruz as he joins the program. But emerging problems leave a lingering effect years later.

As Walter tries to follow the rules of the program, a fellow veteran casts doubt on the information they have been given regarding the program.

Walter's participation in the program becomes at stake, prompting Heidi to interfere in an attempt to keep him from being expelled. Thomas follows a clue that might explain Heidi's connection to Walter.

Heidi tries to smooth over the effect of Shrier's expulsion on Walter. Thomas's conversation with Colin leaves him with more questions than answers.

Colin clashes with Heidi over her preferred method of treating Walter, which contradicts the program's objective. Thomas tries to get to the bottom of what happened by tracking Shrier.

Upon realizing the truth about Homecoming and their efforts to get traumatized veterans back in the field, Heidi makes a shocking decision that could turn her life upside down.

As Heidi makes a move to protect Walter, a cover-up operation aims to conceal all evidence of Homecoming's practices. Heidi reconnects with Walter, as Colin finally faces the music.
