A tormented love letter to her home city, Rana Eid’s debut is a documentary, a paean to the city of Beirut and her father. The filmmaker’s voiceover is about both, equally a part of her and in need of resolution. Panoptic, as its name suggests, presents a number of perspectives on Beirut and especially focuses on the hidden corners, forgotten people and unknown stories that drift through this thought-provoking and poignant ode to memories lost.
