Souad falls in love with Fawzi, a poor young man whose mother is a seamstress, while her rich neighbor Mustafa loves her, and her father forces her to marry him in exchange for paying the mortgage on his sequestrated land, then Mustafa learns of her love for Fawzi, who leaves the country. Souad gives birth to a boy and a girl, and as Fawzi returns 25 years later, Souad develops a brain tumor.
