As a French colonial soldier tries to beat a man to death, his son fails to save him. As the child grows up, his mother asks him to help her get his sister her trousseau, but he tells her that he has no money. People still believe in superstitions, and the governor tries to eliminate these myths.
Ali’s brother tries to convince his mother that seeking to gain the favor of holy men is not religious. Ali befriends the dancer and tells her everything that happened to him in his previous life. The policemen arrest Ali because he hit someone, and as he goes to prison, some men go to beat his brother.
The nightclub owner treats Ali's friend badly because he is imprisoned, and the dancer tries to beat her. Ali's mother is despised by the neighbors, while Ali is tortured in prison. The officer agrees with Ali to release him if he sells the Takrouri drug. After Ali is released, he beats the nightclub owner.
Ali makes everyone fear him in the club and brings his girlfriend back to dance instead of the girl who insulted her. Ali slaughters the cow that they give as an offering to the holy man. The mayor comes and asks Ali not to slaughter offerings again because it's considered paganism.
Qamar is a girl who is afraid of all the people in her neighborhood. As for Ali, he participates with the sheep in a fighting contest. The dancer wants to marry him, but he refuses. A child smokes a cigarette of the Takrouri drug.
Ali finds out that the kids are smoking Takrouri and orders them not to smoke again. Qamar is sad because her stepmother wants to wed her to the man who will buy their house and she doesn't want to. Ali asks the officer not to make anyone sell drugs to kids.
The officer wants to sell drugs to kids against Ali's will and agrees with a guy to do so. As Ali meets his girlfriend and spends the night with her while he is very happy, the dancer agrees with El Talyani to take revenge on the girl so that she will not be able to dance again.
Two men beat Ali, so his friend Khalifa goes to the pharmacy and brings Qamar under threat to treat Ali. The officer and the governor threaten Ali so he'd help them in the drug trade. Qamar grows fond of Ali, who comes to the pharmacy and quarrels with the man who wants to marry her.
The police look for Ali, but they can't find him. The club owner tells the girl that Ali has been sentenced to ten years in prison, so she takes her belongings to leave the place, but El Talyani prevents her. Ali gets into a fight and calls Qamar to come and treat him, and they keep talking.
The officer asks Arabi to look for Ali and make Ammar sell drugs in the city. Ali’s mother wants to recite an invocation so her son would return. Ali quarrels with Ammar's men, after which he meets Ammar face-to-face and defeats him. As he asks Qamar to treat him, she discovers that he is a good man.
The police call Ali's name from the rooftop, but he doesn't answer, so Langer appears with Ali’s mother while holding a knife, whereupon Ali beats him. The police arrest Ali, and in prison, he beats all the prisoners because they mocked his mother. Ammar learns what happened and grieves for Fatima.
As the prison officer tries to poison Ali, he asks Langer to give Ali poisoned bread, but Ali makes him eat it. Ammar tells Ali's mother that he will avenge her and quarrels with the people in the market. Ali asks the governor if he is the reason why everyone searched for him.
Qamar visits the child and remembers Ali because she misses him and considers him a mysterious and decent person. Her father wants her to return to her ex-husband, but she refuses. When the prisoners have a big quarrel and beat the guards, the prison officer goes with his gun and asks for additional forces.
The Minister of Justice comes to inspect the prison, while the officer wants to smuggle Khamis. The police arrest Ammar after Langer filed a complaint that he sells drugs. Khamis goes to Langer and tells him that he is his friend.
The police arrest the prison warden after they discovered the truth about his trade in the Takrouri drug with Ammar, but he takes his gun and kills himself. Atrous comes to the police station and says that he is responsible for the drug case and that Ammar is innocent. Ali and Ammar get out of prison.
Ali is torn between his mother, Jannat, Qamar, and his new path, and he does not know what to do. As Qamar goes to visit Ali and finds Jannat there, Jannat gets angry with him a lot because he kicked her out. Ali tells Qamar that she is the only woman he loves. Jannat returns to work in the nightclub.
The government seizes the house of Qamar's parents, causing her father to fall seriously ill, so she decides to go back to Murad. Ali hears Qamar asking Murad that they restore their relationship, so he gets angry a lot, gets drunk, and tries to get close to Jannat, but she rejects him.
Ammar's wife is pregnant, and he informs his friend. Khamis kills the child and searches for the drugs but doesn't find any. Qamar's father talks about his relationship with his wife, who died while giving birth to Qamar, and how much he loved her. Qamar learns that her current mother is her stepmother.
Khalifa admires Ali's sister and wants to marry her. Ammar steals Ali's ram, after which Ali goes to him and finds that his ram has been slaughtered, so he lights a ring of fire to fight inside it with him. Ali and Ammar clash until the police come and arrest him.
