The 2004 tsunami strikes Thailand, causing massive disasters. English couple Ian and Susie search for their daughter Martha, while journalist Nick investigates the lack of an early warning system, and relief teams struggle to save the situation.

Hope of finding Martha begins to fade as Nick continues his investigations, uncovering corruption. Reconstruction begins in Thailand two years after the disaster, with many people still missing.
