As Chuck Scott, out of work, gives deadly mobster Eddie Roman his misplaced wallet back, Roman offers to hire Chuck as his chauffeur. Chuck becomes entangled in a scheme to free Eddie's wife from the violent grip of her husband, but they have to flee from Eddie and the police as Scott gets accused of murder.
