When Mehmed is poisoned by one of his son's men, Bayezid comes to the throne and quarrels with his brother Cem over the throne. His son, the would-be Selim I, kills his cousin.

When Tuman Bay gets lost in Cairo's alleyways, Sultan Qaitbay is wroth that his nephew is missing. Tuman Bay returns to his uncle Qansuh. Meanwhile, Prince Cem flees as Selim objects to his brother Ahmed being made the ruler of Amasia.

Selim's mother asks him to hold his temper and not to give in to his brothers' provocations. A seer predicts that Qansuh Al-Ghuri will die in a fight over the throne. Selim kills his children from his first wife and grooms his son by his second wife for rule.

Ibn Kamal brings information about Egypt when he comes to congratulate Selim. Selim tries to frame his upcoming invasion as an Islamic conquest. When Qansuh leaves to meet him with his army, he leaves Tuman Bay in charge but Tuman Bay gets stabbed.
