Meredith returns to her former residence and is trying to adapt to life with Amelia and Maggie. Two fifteen-year-old girls receive treatment in the hospital after getting involved in a train accident. Jackson awaits April's return to Seattle.

Bailey is under a lot of strain on her first day as Chief of Surgery. April is unable to deal with her issues while her marital life is falling apart. Meredith tries to strike a balance between all of her duties. Meanwhile, Amelia attempts to find out what Owen really means to her.

Maggie begins to reconsider her decisions after receiving an invitation to her ex-boyfriend's wedding. Jo reveals a secret to Stephanie. At the hospital, Alex must make a decision regarding the lives of two infants.

Owen trains the interns on how to convey shocking news to the families of deceased patients. As the sisters hold a dinner party, Callie comes with her new lover, Penny, who turns out to be the physician who caused Derek's death.

As Maggie is forced to depart the dinner party and rush to the hospital, April tries to avoid Jackson by getting busy with cooking. Meanwhile, Arizona is nervous about meeting Callie's new lover, who turns out to be acquainted with Meredith.

Penny's first day at the hospital doesn't go well. April dupes Jackson into treating a young kid she met in Jordan. Meanwhile, the conflict between Jo and Stephanie is still going on.

The situation reaches its peak when a team of physicians takes on a risky case. Meanwhile, Bailey puts pressure on Ben to kick out their roommate. In a dating bar, Arizona grows a special relationship with Richard.

Owen's link to Nathan starts to be brought to question by everyone in the hospital. Maggie is having trouble keeping things professional at work with Andrew. Alex chooses to take a significant step forward in his life.

After Meredith is severely attacked by a patient, all of the physicians come to her rescue. Meredith becomes increasingly agitated as she recovers from her jaw injuries.

While the hospital is dealing with Meredith's ordeal, Callie and Maggie perform a critical operation on Alex's 15-year-old patient, who got injured in an ambulance explosion. Owen and Nathan are still at loggerheads. Maggie and Andrew take their relationship to the next level.

After Jackson hands her the divorce papers, April recalls her time with him since their first day at Mercy West Hospital. April and Jackson strive to resolve their disagreements. As Arizona delivers wine to April after the divorce, April announces her pregnancy.

When the patient Katie Bryce returns to the hospital with yet another brain aneurysm, Meredith remembers her first day as an intern. Maggie suspects Richard is aware of her romance with Andrew. Arizona thinks about embarking on a new relationship.

As a cancer patient at a military hospital needs surgery, the dream team of doctors is dispatched to save him. When a stunt goes catastrophically wrong, the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital must collaborate with a bunch of high school cheerleaders. Warren makes a perilous choice.

When Richard modifies the staff pairings, chaos ensues as everyone becomes distressed. Arizona comes to the aid of a woman who is pregnant with quadruplets. Meanwhile, April is forced to make a difficult decision.

Jackson finds out that April is pregnant. Meanwhile, Alex and his team perform a lengthy triple organ transplant on a little girl. As Meredith thinks about starting a new relationship, her coworkers encourage her.

After spending a night with Will, Meredith suffers a nervous breakdown and throws him out. Maggie confronts Andrew as he begins to disregard her. Amelia reconsiders her feelings for Owen. Catherine arrives in town and talks to April about her pregnancy.

Arizona and April attempt to assist a 14-year-old girl in hiding her pregnancy from her mother. As Catherine continues to meddle in Jackson and April's affairs, Richard attempts to prevent her. The residents compete against one another for the Preminger Grant.

Miranda, as Chief of Surgery, must deal with the fallout when Ben performs surgery on a pregnant woman despite the fact that he lacks the necessary surgical equipment.

A post-surgical tumor case brings Jackson and April together, but they are still at loggerheads. Miranda establishes an advisory committee to inquire into Ben's actions. Arizona makes a decision that may have an impact on her relationship with Callie.

The doctors find themselves in a predicament while they try to rescue two 8-year-old boys who got wounded in a gunshot. Arizona is enraged when Callie makes a major choice concerning Sophia's future without asking her.

Callie and Arizona seek the assistance of their friends as they prepare for court. Stephanie's relationship with Kyle gets tense. With Meredith's help, Amelia and Owen share their concerns about going forward with their relationship.

As Callie and Arizona disagree on Sofia's future, they resort to the court to decide who receives custody of the child. Meanwhile, Stephanie regrets breaking up with Kyle. At Grey Sloan Memorial, Alex and April attend to a pregnant teenager.

Amelia and Owen discuss marriage, much to Meredith's anger. Alex is frustrated when Jo does not respond to his marriage proposal in the way he expected. Callie and Arizona are at odds over custody arrangements.

Meredith and Maggie show their support for Amelia on her wedding day. Jo discloses that she has been hiding secrets from Alex. Arizona and Callie struggle with the consequences of the custody of their child. Ben, on the other hand, comes to the rescue of a friend.
