A new firefighter joins the 118. The emergency workers respond to numerous nerve-racking incidents as the city witnesses a very hot day.

As Los Angeles is struck by a devastating earthquake, the emergency workers set out to save the lives of people stuck in a hotel that's about to collapse.

Maddie starts her new job; meanwhile, the emergency workers go about responding to emergencies in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Athena is looking forward to being promoted, and Buck tries to help Eddie, all the while the first responders set out to save people who are stuck in different places.

As Maddie joins Athena in a ride-along, the former gets in over her head when she is forced to seek the help of a dispatcher, who seems too perfect. Meanwhile, Hen struggles to keep her family from falling apart.

Following the crash of a news copter, the emergency team rushes to help, after which they respond to various other emergencies, namely at an eating contest, a bodybuilding competition and a toddler pageant. Meanwhile, Maddie finds it hard to forget about the past.

On Halloween, the emergency workers respond to emergencies at a cemetery, a haunted hayride and a spooky Hollywood parade. Meanwhile, Maddie receives a strange call, and Buck is forced to make an important decision.

Buck starts dating again. Meanwhile, the first responders rush to deal with several incidents, including a woman who went too far in her attempt to get her husband's attention.

Back in 2008, Hen quits her job and joins the LAFD, where she meets Chimney, befriends Athena, and finds her true vocation.

On Christmas, the emergency workers rush to deal with several incidents, including a man trapped inside a gift. Meanwhile, Eddie asks for Buck's advice, and Bobby makes a major decision regarding his future with Athena.

Bobby's visit to Athena's parent doesn't go as planned. As Maddie tries to file for divorce from her abusive husband, she's taken aback by some shocking news. Athena attempts to get to the bottom of a disturbing call.

In the aftermath of a terrible incident, Chimney recalls when he first joined the LAFD, reflecting on the many trials and tribulations that made him who he is now.

After discovering that Maddie has been kidnapped by her abusive husband, the first responders race to rescue her.

Following a major system crash, the workers at the emergency call center resort to doing their jobs they old way; meanwhile, the first responders set out to deal with several explosions and a geriatric pregnancy.

As the first responders rush to a bank to deal with an emergency, things get out of hand and they eventually get accused of robbing the bank.

Back in 2014, Bobby experiences a horrible tragedy, whereupon he moves from Minnesota to Los Angeles, where he is appointed as the new Captain of station 118, and where he meets Athena.

As Chimney takes over as interim captain, the emergency workers respond to many calls, including an incident at a chocolate factory, as well as a bomb. Maddie thinks about quitting her job as a 911 operator.

After a third bombing, the first responders realize there's a serial bomber wreaking havoc on the city, whereupon Buck puts his own life on the line to try and stop him.
