Two youths from a poor Oran neighborhood steal a large amount of hard currency. As the girl who works in a restaurant below their house asks one of them for help, the other gives her money in hard currency, which surprises her; when she leaves, his friend fights with him for fear of being exposed.
Layla and Zino like each other. The owner of the neighborhood café, who's married to the domineering Salima, wants to have a customary marriage to Layla, who refuses. As Dalila enters Zino and Merzak's apartment while they're not there, she searches the room, and Layla sees her going up there.
Merzak recalls how his mother told him to look after his siblings before she died. As Elias is sad that he didn't succeed, his mother comforts him. Layla goes out with her sister, Dalila, leaves her, and takes a taxi alone. Dalila goes home and tells her mother, who beats Layla when she returns.
Khaled visits his sister, Salima, and his mother. Zino proposes to Layla, who agrees, provided that he gives her a big dowry. Zino wants to move out of the neighborhood, fearing that someone will find out about the money. As a fight erupts, Khaled sees Zino and Merzak and asks his brother-in-law to bring them to him.
Hussein offers to buy Layla a cosmetics shop in exchange for agreeing to his proposal, which she does. Merzak asks his brother, Zino, to promise him not to deal drugs and not to lie to him. Dalila gets angry at the neighbor who goes to Merzak's house to cook and clean.
Elias feels sad and humiliated as the father of the girl whom he wanted to marry rejects him and considers him a kinless bastard. Khaled asks his wife to get pregnant as he wants to give the baby to his sister, Salima, who can't have children, in fulfillment of his mother's request.
Merzak wants to find his siblings and asks for Zino's help as he still remembers them, especially his little sister. Aisha tells Malika that she'll make Khaled divorce her if she doesn't get pregnant and give the baby to her daughter. Malika takes some of Salima's hair to a sorceress to bewitch her.
Elias leaves the house and works with Khaled after he told him what happened to him. Malika takes from the sorceress the charm she made for Aisha and Salima, but Khaled finds out about it and quarrels with her. Merzak and Zino get arrested after the cab owner reported them for beating him.
Zino and Merzak are released from jail as the cabby retracts his statement. As Merzak goes to Dalila's mother, people think he came to betroth Dalila, but he came to ask for her hand in marriage to Reda. Malika returns to live at her brother's as her husband kicked her out due to the charm he found.
Elias works with Khaled in dealing drugs. Merzak recalls how he seized the money bag from Khaled. Also, he photographs documents in his office. Zino is angry at Layla for entering his apartment with no one there as the documents disappeared. Dalila tells her mother she won't marry anyone but Merzak.
Elias goes with Khaled to Hussein's café and asks him to always deal with him after they've been introduced. Hussein asks his sister to return to her husband because she will lose in the end, while Layla is surprised that Malika has returned to the neighborhood.
Dalila professes her love for Merzak, who considers her like his sister, so she agrees to marry Reda. As Malika returns home, Khaled tells her to never go out alone as he doesn't trust her. Merzak tells Uncle Faraj that he's tired of looking for his siblings, yet he still recalls his sister's face.
Rabea is kidnapped as Salima takes him to buy him pizza. As she tells his mother, she collapses. They call the police, but Merzak decides to look for him alone, so Zino and the rest of the neighborhood's men help him. Layla is released on charges of selling cosmetics that violate health regulations.
Merzak finds Rabea, whom he takes to the hospital, where the doctor tells him that he lost his memory due to the trauma of being kidnapped. Elias becomes Khaled's close friend. Malika decides to get pregnant and give her baby to Salima as Aisha asked her to please her husband.
As Rabea is discharged from the hospital, the doctor takes him home, meets Merzak, and attends the celebration that is held in the neighborhood. Layla goes to visit Khaled's mother, who admires her a lot. She also meets Khaled and tells him about what happened to her at the police station.
The doctor becomes Merzak's girlfriend. With Layla rejoicing as Khaled solved her problem at the police station, Zino gets angry because Layla met Khaled, of whom he feels jealous. Zino and Merzak's father appears and meets an old friend, whom he tells his story with his wife and how he wronged her.
As Zino gets into trouble with a criminal gang, they ask for money from Merzak, who promises to give them it in return for his brother. Elias makes huge profits for Khaled, who has grown fond of him. El Hajj, the father of the two young men, appears and confesses to them that he's their father.
Merzak's dad dies after telling him that he killed his mother as he suspected her of cheating but later learned that she was innocent. Layla is late at the lawyer's, so her mom asks Khaled's mom about her. Zino asks Merzak to go with him to propose to Layla and wants to buy her the cosmetics shop.
Layla decides to work in the capital and moves in with her friend, while her mother is sad because she will be away from her, and Zino is worried for her. Salima rejoices as Rabea visits her. Also, she buys baby clothes. Khaled competes with a drug dealer in the market and Elias helps him.
Merzak remembers his mother, whereupon he drinks himself blind as his father unjustly killed her and she was innocent, because of which he and his siblings were sent to the orphanage. Reda and Zino try to provide Merzak with psychological help.
Merzak meets his girlfriend, who asks him to move in with her and stay away from the neighborhood and trouble because she loves him so much. Layla talks to her sister and mother via the Internet and checks on them both. Salima refuses to take Malika's baby after she gives birth.
As Reda's mother finally agrees to his marriage to Dalila, Layla comes from Algiers to attend her sister's wedding. Khaled and his wife also go to the neighborhood, where a big party is held, and Merzak pays all the expenses. While Reda's dancing among his friends, Hussein unintentionally stabs him.
Merzak is sad as Reda goes to the hospital in critical condition. As Layla tells Zino that she'll return to the capital, he rages and tells her that he bought the shop in return for marrying her, but she refuses, so Merzak consoles him. Khaled's rival kidnaps and tortures Elias. Merzak meets Khaled.
Elias is released after Khaled pays the man who told Elias about his siblings and real family, whereupon he goes to Merzak's house and meets him. The doctor introduces Merzak to her mother, after telling her that she is going to marry him.
Merzak and Zino are glad to meet Elias, for whom they looked for so long. Elias introduces Khaled to Zino, who learns that his brother deals drugs and rebukes him, but he doesn't want to leave Khaled, who rejects Malika's offer that he marry the maid and have a baby with her to give to his sister.
Merzak meets Sabrina's father, who inquires about the nature of his work and family and eventually agrees to his marriage to his daughter, upon which Merzak decides to change. Zino goes to the capital, meets Layla, and takes her in his car to talk to her.
Khaled decides to marry Layla and have her leave Zino, which saddens her mother, while Malika leaves the house with her children after learning the news. Merzak meets Qader's daughter, who wants to get any information from him about her father's work, but he refuses.
As Merzak uncovers the Moroccan's plot against Qader, Sabrina's dad, he tries to install a camera to learn the safe code. The guys find their sister but don't contact her as she's happily married. Merzak shares the money with his brothers and fiancée. Zino gives the cosmetics shop to Layla after she divorces Khaled.
