Layne Reed's life turns upside down when she stumbles upon an intelligent talking car named V.I.N. in her Aunt Betty's shed. Meanwhile, Kwon and Riggins are trying to track V.I.N.

After V.I.N.'s control unit gets damaged, Layne and Zora come up with an idea to raise money to fix it by using V.I.N. in a ridesharing app.

After she discovers a shocking secret, Lyne decides to focus on her school's presidency campaign, which was nearly affected by one of V.I.N.'s mishaps.

While Layne tries to defeat her presidential rival Jasper in a physical challenge, V.I.N. tries to figure out his purpose.

When Layne's locker gets stolen, she, Zora, and V.I.N. go on a road trip to look for it by tracking her missing laptop's IP address.

After Layne's parents stop her from hanging out with V.I.N., she starts to miss him, but she gets busy with the school elections. Mel frees V.I.N. after receiving alarming news.

V.I.N. feels that he's causing Layne too much trouble after she and Zora fake his destruction and hide him in the woods. Cody tries to express how he feels for Layne.

In a final confrontation, when Cheryl and Rob get captured by Kwon and Riggins in exchange for Layne to give up V.I.N., Layne must find a way to save both her parents and V.I.N.
