As he wakes up alone and terrified on the outskirts of Arcadia, Bellamy has no memory of the previous week. Meanwhile, Margaret Langston, the mighty matriarch, returns.

As Bellamy and Sheriff Fred worry that Caleb has come back, Margaret discovers the future of the family business. Despite Rachael's pregnancy, Janine decides she still wants to save her marriage.

When Tom chooses to start a new church flock for the people who have come back, Bellamy makes the decision to confess. When old human bones unexpectedly appear in the river, Margaret is adamant about concealing the connections they have to the Langston family.

When unexpected visitors show up at the dinner that Lucille prepares to celebrate Jacob's return, tension arises between the family members. While Rachael gets troubling news concerning her unborn child, Bellamy keeps looking into the source of the puzzling bones.

While Bellamy attempts to keep his secret from Maggie, Margaret tries to stop Barbara from reconciling her ties with Fred and Maggie. Later on, Bellamy resorts to extreme measures as a result of the virus spreading among the returned.

As Bellamy seeks help from an unlikely contact when he gets really sick, he discovers startling information about his background. In response to another disappearance, the living scrambles to find the cause.

Because she fears that the treatment might harm her expectant child, Rachel refuses to accept it. While all of this is happening, Brian Addison shows interest in Margaret, and Elaine's brother catches the virus. Elsewhere, True Living numbers are increasing.

When a reverie state, including the returned, occurs in Arcadia, things start to go sideways. Secrets are brought to light.
