Alex Rider tries to find out the real cause of his uncle's death, but during the search, he discovers that his uncle was working as a secret agent in MI6's Department of Special Operations, and he finds himself forced to complete his work.

Alex suffers after discovering the truth about his uncle. He is kidnapped and interrogated, but he escapes and discovers that this was training by the Department.

As Alex strives to adapt to his secret identity as the spoiled son of businessman David Friend, he risks driving his friend Tom away to keep the mission from getting revealed.

Alex discovers he is in a difficult situation after his secret investigation, and the Department is close to reaching the double agent who works among them, but Yassen reaches him first and kills him.

Alex is concerned when he finds out that Greif is changing the students at Point Blanc. He discovers that he, Kyra, and James are having the same dreams, after which they plan to escape from the academy, while the investigation into Parker Roscoe begins.

Parker interrogates Tom to learn more about Alex, while the latter and Kyra discover a secret about Greif. Kyra knows that it is impossible for them to escape together, so she helps Alex escape alone.

The Department fakes Alex's death to protect him from Greif. Alex heads a team to storm Point Blanc to rescue his friends and arrest Greif for interrogation.

The Department uncovers the mystery of Ian's death, and faces an old enemy who has reappeared, while Alex finds himself in a battle with the copy of himself created by Greif, and Yassen is able to save the real Alex by killing his clone.
