Jake buys an old doll called Chucky to use in an art project, but the presence of this doll causes him many problems, starting with Chucky killing his father.
Jake moves to live in his uncle's house after his father's death, but his cousin Junior is afraid that the doll will harm his girlfriend, and Chucky tries to convince Jake to help him with murders.
Lexy agrees to Junior's request to apologize to Jake because she's scared of the latter and wants to get Chucky. Jake gives up the doll to Lexy, and Chucky takes advantage of a party at Lexy's house to kill her, but he accidentally kills Oliver.
Caroline is taken to the hospital after the party, and so are Jake, Lexy, and Chucky. As Jake is questioned, Chucky kills a cop and pulls the plug on Caroline, leading to disruption in the hospital.
Jake believes that the doll has been destroyed, so he decides to get rid of it and continue his life normally. Caroline's father gives her a new doll called Tommy, and Chucky's enemies appear to cause problems, while Chucky comes back to life in the form of Tommy.
Chucky's enemies track down the rest of the dolls to get rid of them, and Jake, Devon, and Lexy set a trap for Chucky, but he attacks them and kills Detective Kim, Devon's mother.
Devon leaves town to stay with his aunt after his mother's death. Chucky incites Junior to kill whoever caused the collapse of his family, while Jake and Lexy decide to follow Devon, who went to Chucky's childhood house.
Kyle drugs Jake and Lexy to protect them after he reveals Chucky's magic powers, and the Good Guy dolls seek to wreak havoc in various places, but Jake's friends, with the help of other people, are able to eliminate the evil of the dolls.
