As Carrie recovers in Germany, she's interrogated as questions about her loyalty are brought up. Saul fails in the peace negotiations in Afghanistan and enlists Carrie's help. Max faces a dangerous mission.

Carrie follows a new lead that implicates Vice President G'ulom. Tasneem suspects Saul's actions. After creating a decoy, Saul is captured by Haqqani's men.

Haqqani discovers that there is a traitor from his close circle. Carrie meets with Yevgeny who reminds her of their history together. Haqqani exiles Jalal from the family and negotiates a peace deal with Saul.

As President Warner plans with Afghan President Daoud to end the war, a tragic event takes place. Carrie rescues Samira from her brother-in-law, who wants to forcibly marry her.

A gunfight takes place between a Taliban squadron and American troops at the crash site. Haqqani tries to flee Kabul. Max attempts to retrieve the black box from the helicopter.

Max is captured by a Taliban soldier. President G'ulom forces Haqqani to turn himself in. Saul confronts Carrie about her connection to Yevgeny.

Yevgeny and Carrie attempt to free Max. As Haqqani is put on trial, G'ulom makes sure that there is no hope for him to be given a fair trial. It's revealed that Jalal Haqqani is involved in Max's capture.

Jalal threatens to kill Max if Haqqani is executed. Jalal releases a video claiming to be behind the attack on the helicopters, which prompts President Hayes to demand his arrest.

Yevgeny and Carrie attempt to find the flight recorder. Tasneem tries to convince Jalal to back down and stop provoking a war with the US. Carrie makes a shocking discovery.

After Yevgeny escapes with the flight recorder, Saul negotiates with the Russian government in an attempt to retrieve it. Jalal plans a terrorist attack on the US and orders Balach to execute it.

Carrie investigates if Saul has a Russian asset in the Kremlin, and finds out about his connection to the English teacher Anna Pomerantseva. Yevgeny wants to neutralize the asset by any means.

As Carrie manages to find out the identity of the asset, Anna meets a tragic fate. Russia releases the recording that proves that President Warner's helicopter crashed because of a mechanical failure. Carrie escapes with Yevgeny to Russia.
