After the death of her husband, a suburban mother starts selling marijuana in order to maintain her fancy lifestyle, then she discovers that her neighborhood is actually filled with addicts.
In season two, Nancy has to make a choice between her growing business and her boyfriend, who is a DEA agent, and continues to grow marijuana with the help of Conrad.
In season three, Silas meets Tara, an evangelical Christian who likes pot, and persuades Nancy to let him and Tara join her business. Shane and Isabelle face difficulties at the ultra-religious Majestic summer school.
In season 4, Nancy moves to the border looking for a new life, but before long, she finds her troubled past catching up with her. Nancy works for Guillermo in smuggling drugs across the border, but it does not go as expected. Meanwhile, Celia is having a hard time in prison.
In this season, Nancy makes a secret visit to prison, and the appearance of her sister changes her plans. Quinn finds herself in trouble after all her attempts to collect the ransom for Celia fail.
After her son commits murder, the drug dealer Nancy Botwin is still determined to escape with her two sons. She then makes a plan to cross the border into Canada.
In season 7, Nancy is released and moved to a halfway house in NYC. As Andy, Silas, Shane, and Doug find out about release, she tries to reclaim her life in New York.
The eighth and final season begins with a shooting victim being taken to the hospital without a culprit being identified, and the romantic relationships of Jill, Andy, and Doug become intertwined, while Shane continues his pursuit of law enforcement.
