As Adam moves to live with Hannah in her apartment, Hannah tries to make it easier for him to get to know her friends, while Marnie is able to move on after her relationship with Charlie has come to an end. Following her breakup with Ray, Shoshanna aspires to graduate from college.

Marnie leaves her mother's house and moves to her new apartment. Hannah, Adam, and Shoshanna talk about their different life difficulties while on their way to pick up Jessa from rehab.

After she became unemployed, Adam's sister, Caroline, pays a visit to her brother and Hannah. Meanwhile, Ray adjusts to his new job as a restaurant manager, but he soon gets into more trouble with his ex-girlfriend, Shoshanna. Hannah celebrates her 25th birthday.

As Hannah's editor, David, passes away, Adam is shocked that Hannah cares about nothing but her eBook. Jessa's blood runs cold when she discovers that a friend of hers, who is supposed to be dead, is actually still alive. Marnie resigns from Ray's coffee shop following a nervous breakdown.

Hannah faces a new problem regarding her eBook. Jessa looks for a new job, while Marnie seeks guidance from Ray. Hannah throws Caroline out of her house after she realizes that she is insane.

Hannah takes on her new position at GQ magazine, but things soon take an unexpected turn. Shoshanna decides that she needs to settle down, and her relationship with Parker reaches new heights. Meanwhile, Marnie and Ray start seeing each other more often.

Marnie takes the rest of the girls to spend some time at her mother's friend's beach house on Long Island, where Hannah meets Elijah by chance. The girls' plans go awry as they all get into a terrible brawl.

Hannah is concerned that Adam will attach more importance to his acting profession over their relationship after his Broadway audition for Major Barbara goes well. Jessa realizes she is not happy with her job at the children's boutique and submits her resignation.

As Hannah's grandmother Flo suffers from pneumonia, Hannah visits her at the hospital, and she tries to improve her relationship with her cousin. Hannah's mother asks her to tell Flo that she and Adam are engaged.

Hannah tries to spice things up between her and Adam since he has been busy working on his play, but things don't go as planned. As Shoshanna mends fences between Jasper and his daughter, the latter asks him to abandon Jessa.

Hannah becomes certain that she is wasting her artistic skills after her second interview with Patti LuPone, upon which she chooses to resign from GQ. Shoshanna, Hannah, and Elijah go to Marnie and Desi's open-mic concert, and their performance goes well.

Hannah's parents motivate her to attend the University of Iowa once she discovers she has been admitted. Shoshanna collapses when she realizes she won't be able to graduate any time soon. Despite the favourable feedback, Adam believes he underperformed on the opening night of Major Barbara.
