Anissa subtly opposes Agent Odell in her alter persona as Blackbird with the assistance of Gambi, while Jefferson Pierce and his wife are under the control of the ASA.

The takeover of Freeland pulls the Pierce family in separate directions; meanwhile, Jefferson and Lynn have a disagreement with one another. Jennifer, despite her skills, feels helpless.

Lynn and Jefferson's relationship starts to deteriorate when Lynn finds out that Jefferson arranged a deal with Agent Odell without first talking to her. Anissa cuts up her brief romance with Jamillah and reunites with Grace Choi.

With Freeland in such a startling situation, Jefferson is faced with obstacles. Lynn is under constant pressure to find a solution to the ongoing situation in Freeland, and Anissa is still working at the clinic.

The impact on Jefferson's family causes him to suffer, which leads him to make a devastating decision. Anissa's identity becomes in jeopardy, and Odell makes a significant move in his attempt to win Jennifer over.

Anissa's devotion to Grace grows, Jennifer discovers something intriguing, and Jefferson struggles to decide between protecting Freeland and staying loyal to this family.

In their frank conversation, Anissa informs Jefferson that she needs Black Lightning's assistance to help her lead meta refugees out of the perimeter. Gambi begs Lynn to assist him in gaining entrance to the pit, and Jennifer and Brandon's relationship grows closer.

New alliances are formed and old ones are rekindled as the conflict rages on.

When the Pierce family finds out that Gravedigger and the Markovians are heading to Freeland, they get ready for battle.

In a confrontation that will alter Freeland irrevocably, the Pierce family and their supporters fight Gravedigger while the ASA races to hide their tracks.
