After signing the divorce papers, Robert and Frances begin their new lives as single people.

Lila is becoming more and more resentful of Frances. Robert gets back in touch with Janice, who tries to fulfill a desire for him.

Robert runs upon a fierce and attractive real estate agent, while Frances makes an effort to track down an unknown painter.

Robert and Frances rejoin in Ohio after Robert's father becomes ill. There, they struggle with Robert's controlling sister, Cathy, and remember better times.

In an attempt to learn more about the new lady Robert is seeing, Frances asks Dallas and Diane to do research on her before Lila's birthday.

Robert and Frances meet with their marriage counselor once more to establish new guidelines for the kids. While Frances considers her relationship with Andrew, Jackie meets Dallas by coincidence and asks for help.
