When Mike and Rio are chosen to host the town's Huskers kickoff party, they try their best to prove that they are up to the task. Beau and Kay try to mend their relationship after the truth about their separation is revealed.

As Mike and Rio try to bring some excitement to their lackluster love life, they get interrupted by many issues in the house. As Constance's son Brandon comes back home, Constance makes a decision about her relationship with Rudy.

As the women of the town head to Omaha to run some tests, Mike lands in trouble after he helps Rudy and Beau to cut down a branch. Rio helps out Kay to meet new people.

As Mike starts working as an editor for the local paper, he gets into trouble after an article he publishes causes a feud between Rudy and the Wyatt family. The Bowmans try to have a heart-to-heart talk with their son Jacob.

As Halloween arrives, Mike and Rio have an all-out war, as each one sets out to scare the other the most. But things take a turn when Mike is bitten by a bat. Meanwhile, Constance is having a Halloween party of her own, while Janine and her friends are out having fun.

When Rio's mother, Donna, comes for a surprise visit to see Mike and Rio, she secretly tries to make Rio change her mind and go back to the city. Rudy tries to help Brandon get used to civilian life away from the army.

As Mike and Rio look after their pig Portia's piglets, they start to consider having kids of their own. At the annual Euchre tournament, Beau and Kay try to set aside their differences as they learn to work together.

When Kay's sister Stacy comes for a visit, Rio finds out that Mike and Stacy were in a relationship before he met her. As Rio learns that Kay is jealous of Stacy's success, she tries to reconcile them. Constance tries to get closer to Rudy.

As Mike and Rio are excited to spend some quality time alone on Christmas, they end up hosting Constance's annoying mother Belle, who drops by out of the blue. An awkward situation makes Jacob run away from home.

As Mike tries to decide which seed to plant on his farm, Rio is having a hard time with her therapy practice. When Constance starts suspecting Rudy, she finds out an unpleasant secret about him. As Beau and Kay are having problems, Rio helps Beau face his fears.

As Rio can't afford to go to her best friend Sierra's wedding in Iceland, Sierra ends up holding the wedding at their farm. Constance and Rudy decide to go their separate ways. When Deb quits doing the mail route, Rio takes her place instead.

As Rio starts getting ready for Sierra's wedding, things get out of control when Rio hosts a party at her barn. Rudy is having a hard time dealing with his break-up with Constance. As Rio and Sierra clash with each other, Mike tries to make them work things out.

The townsfolk become annoyed by the rude behaviors of Sierra's wedding guests. As the wedding day arrives, Sierra makes a surprising confession, while Rio tries to find a way to support her decision. Kay and Beau renew their wedding vows.

Mike helps Jacob find his true passion as he tells him about his high school band. As Kay gives Rio driving lessons, things take a turn after she finds out that Rio wanted to secretly take lessons from Connie.

Rio's therapy practice becomes threatened after a new reverend starts giving free advice to the townspeople. Things take a turn when Mike decides to buy a used truck behind Rio's back. Constance and Pastor Paul get closer.

When Rio and Mike go on a camping trip, he sets out to prove to her that he's not a quitter. As Brandon tries to sabotage his mother's relationship with Pastor Paul, Constance tells him to focus on his own love life.

As Mike and Rio help Jacob with his after-prom event, Beau gets sad when he knows that his son is going away for college. As Kay tries to break up Jacob's relationship with Janine, Jacob ends up asking Janine to marry him.

As Mike's family comes for a surprise visit on his birthday, Mike reveals that he plans to renovate the farm. Brandon's mother and Clara interfere to help Brandon find a date. When Rudy makes a surprising confession, Mike tries to come to terms with the news.

As the rich restaurateur Dolores arrives in town, Beau and Mike start competing to convince her to be her egg supplier. As a tornado hits the town, a mix-up with pregnancy tests complicates things for Rio.

As everyone takes shelter from the tornado, Rudy confesses that he still loves Constance, while Mike decides to form a farmers' co-op to support the farmers. As Rio finds out that she's pregnant, the townspeople celebrate the happy news.
