Taken as a child from his home by the invading Danes, Uhtred grows up among his blood relatives' mortal enemies. His life is a never-ending battle of loyalty between two opposing sides that hold a part of him each. He is torn between fighting for those who share his blood and those he grew up with.
Uhtred joins forces with King Alfred, who dreams of uniting England into one mighty kingdom, and together they must confront the threat of the Danes who seek to conquer their land.
