After she leaves Los Angeles and relocates with her family to Nebraska, high school student Courtney Whitmore's quiet life is turned upside down.

Courtney discovers the truth about her family following an unanticipated clash with an Injustice Society of America member. Meanwhile, Courtney's attempt to get along with her stepfather Pat gladdens her mother Barbara.

Pat asks Courtney to cease her efforts to pursue the Injustice Society of America following a perilous encounter with an ISA member.

Courtney attempts to get new members to join the Justice Society of America. On the other hand, a talk with one of the town's inhabitants makes Pat grow suspicious.

As Pat closes in on finding out which ISA members are in Blue Valley, Courtney, Yolanda, and Beth look for Rick, and their quest takes them to the Halloween party held by Cindy Bauman.

When Pat talks to her about the possible ramifications of getting new members into the JSA, Courtney is left with a tough decision to make, after which she gets ready for her first big mission, along with Yolanda, Beth, and Rick.

Members of the ISA come together to find out who is going after them, while Courtney, Yolanda, Beth, and Rick learn about the significance of teamwork from Pat. Meanwhile, Jordan makes Barbara an offer that she accepts, and Cindy is infuriated by her father's harsh rules.

Pat thinks that Barbara should learn the truth when Courtney lands herself in a difficult situation after an unforeseen incident.

Courtney reveals who she plans on recruiting, which leads to discord among the JSA members. On the other hand, Henry Jr. finds out something unexpected about his father, and Barbara asks Jordan and his family over to have dinner with her family.

Barbara learns Pat and Courtney's secret, after which the JSA and Henry try to locate Brainwave and save him from the ISA.

With the arrival of someone from her past, Courtney's world goes topsy-turvy. Elsewhere, Jordan finds out something startling, while Pat learns more about the plan of the ISA.

Courtney, Pat, and the members of the JSA try to come up with a plan to stop the ISA. Rick makes a great discovery with Pat's assistance, while a fierce face-off with the ISA approaches.

A major confrontation occurs between the JSA and the ISA as the villainous group tries to carry out their plot, while the good guys try to thwart it.
