As private investigator Perry Mason struggles to get by after going through personal traumas, he finds himself embroiled in a dangerous situation, as he's hired to investigate the mysterious case of the kidnapping of the baby boy, Charlie Dodson.

As detective Ennis tries to cover his tracks, Mason resumes his investigations that lead him to a new discovery connected to Charlie's mother, Emily. A flashback reveals why Mason was discharged from the military. During Charlie's funeral, evangelical preacher Sister Alice gives an emotional sermon.

The DA Barnes is looking to demand the death penalty for Emily. Mason and his partner Strickland break into the morgue to trace the dentures that officer Paul Drake gave them.

Mason and Strickland enlist Virgil's help in their investigation. Alice's shocking claim regarding Charlie causes a stir. After the attorney E.B. Jonathan grows desperate, he resorts to drastic actions.

Mason's ex-wife refuses to let their son Theodore temporarily live with him. Strickland starts following Ennis. Following E.B.'s death, Mason becomes Emily's new lawyer.

Mason faces difficulties as he begins his defense in court. Della Street discovers new information that implicates Baggerly in shady business with the church. Emily's stance in the case is harmed when a guard from jail gives false testimony against her.

As new information reveals that the church deacon Eric Seidel is implicated in a financial scheme, Ennis sets out to silence him. Drake and Mason find out that a prostitute was seen with baby Charlie before his death. A shocking surprise takes place during Alice's Easter Sunday "resurrection".

As Mason agrees to put Emily on the stand, his plan backfires after Barnes manages to make her appear guilty. With the trial approaching its end, it sets in motion many events. As Mason closes Charlie's case, he begins a new chapter in his career.
