Cantor is concerned that his son Jackie shows little interest in continuing the family tradition of singing in church and prefers jazz. Jackie meets stage actress Mary Dell, who helps him reach stardom by singing on Broadway. However, when his father is about to die, he asks him to sing in church at the same time as his Broadway concert.
