When the COVID-19 pandemic hits, Meredith Grey and the surgeons of Grey Sloan Memorial fight for their patients' lives.

While Winston and Maggie's relationship goes to another level, Owen and Teddy break up. Meanwhile, Meredith faints in the parking lot and has a vision where she sees Derek Shepherd.

Meredith is hospitalized with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, and her condition continues to deteriorate. Meantime, Amelia and Maggie look for consolation while struggling with what is happening to Meredith.

While Tom is forced to remain quarantined after testing positive again, Owen faces a patient he treated before who is now admitted with a worsened condition. Maggie finds herself in an uncomfortable situation caused by Winston.

As an assisted living facility is hit with COVID, Bailey worries when she sees a familiar face among the patients admitted. Koracick is admitted to the hospital with COVID as his condition is rapidly worsening.

Meredith's condition starts to improve, but this doesn't last long as she tries helping a coding patient. Richard turns the cafeteria into a COVID-19 treatment room, activating surge protocol.

After Andrew is stabbed, the hospital staff tries to save his life. Meanwhile, Amelia and Link discuss an important decision to make regarding Meredith's health.

When stress and tensions arise, each of the Grey Sloan doctors Memorial has their own way to get through what is happening. Meanwhile, Hayes urges Meredith to fight for her life.

As Teddy might be having PTDS after Andrew's death, Amelia tries to help by convincing Owen to forgive her infidelity.

While Maggie and Jackson have a tough call to make regarding the last ventilator in the hospital, Meredith is still in her vision on the beach with Mark Sloan and Lexie Grey. Winston pops the question to Maggie.

Jackson is confronted by Mama Ortiz about his way of helping COVID patients. Meanwhile, Meredith wakes up and tells Richard about overhearing Jo's talk about her specialty.

Bailey struggles to treat a man who tested positive for COVID but believes that the pandemic is a scam. Meantime, Winston moves to live with Maggie after their engagement.

After Teddy, Richard, and Winston look for ideas to help Meredith wake up, they get an idea on who might help in that matter. Meanwhile, Jo attempts to talk Bailey into letting her switch specialties, as Teddy tries to reconcile with Owen but fails.

Jackson has a proposal to April Kepner after receiving advice from his father.

Jackson says his goodbyes after announcing his news. Meanwhile, Richard and Bailey try to figure out how to tell Meredith about Andrew's death. Amelia struggles to get the house ready for Meredith when she is discharged from the hospital.

While Meredith starts her recovery journey, she is concerned about her future in the operating room. Meanwhile, Jo hopes to adopt Luna, and Schmitt is accepted into the COVID-19 vaccine trial.

Meredith becomes the Director of the Residency Program, and while Jo is determined to adopt Luna, she makes life-changing decisions. Maggie and Winston finally tie the knot.
