As FBI Agent Clarice Starling returns from her leave, during which she underwent mandated therapy, two bodies that bear the earmarks of a serial killer wash up in the Anacostia River, whereupon Clarice gets assigned to the case.

Clarice Starling and the other members of the ViCAP task force travel to Tennessee to deal with a dangerous militia group. There, a still shaken Clarice helps uncover a massive conspiracy.

In an attempt to show Krendler and her colleagues that she's still got what it takes to be an FBI agent, Clarice strives to get the suspect in the three river murders to give up whomever hired him.

After a suspect gets assassinated while at Buzzard's Point, the ViCAP team, including Clarice, gets subjected to an investigation by SA Anthony Herman, all the while the team continues to work on the river murders case sub rosa.

Clarice wakes up to find herself paralyzed in a hospital bed after Marilyn Felker, a serial killer who practices medicine, gets her heavily sedated. Concerned that she's missing, Clarice's team sets out to look for her; meanwhile, she struggles with the vivid hallucinations induced by the sedatives.

After her disturbing experience with Felker, Clarice is forced to take leave, whereupon she decides to go see Attorney General Martin and ask her to return her to her job. Meanwhile, Ardelia tries to help Clarice identify the man who helped Felker.

Upon the discovery of the body of a missing teenage kid that's been inhumed in concrete, the ViCAP team takes on the case, which turns out to be connected to a cold case, whereupon Ardelia and Clarice join forces to get to the bottom of it.

Krendler attempts to obtain a DNA sample from the guy whom he presumes was Clarice's assailant at Woodhaven; meanwhile, the ViCAP team sets out to look into the alleged suicide of a medical student.

As the investigation of the river murders leads ViCAP to a pharmaceutical company, Clarice tries to get their accountant to cooperate with her. Ardelia and Garrett approach an attorney whom they wish would undertake the case of the Black Coalition.

As Catherine Martin runs away to Carneys Point, New Jersey, in order to confront Buffalo Bill's mother, Clarice races to look for Catherine to prevent her from carrying out a heinous act that she would regret.

After revealing that Alastor Pharmaceuticals is responsible for the river murders, the ViCAP team goes to the company to stop its officials from getting rid of inculpatory evidence; meanwhile, Clarice interrogates the company's CEO.

Following the ViCAP team's raid on Alastor Pharmaceuticals, Clarice is forced to turn in her badge and gun after striking an FBI agent while angry, whereupon she finds herself in grave danger with no one to help her.

As Clarice finds herself held captive along with other women in an animal testing facility, she struggles to liberate herself in order to save the other captives; meanwhile, Ardelia and the ViCAP team try to find her.
