This season follows two timelines. The first takes place on the island, where the remaining survivors begin to randomly travel to the past and future, following Ben's movement of the island in time and space, and the second timeline takes place off the island following Locke's death and deals with Jack and Ben's attempts to reunite with the six passengers and return to the island.
