Struggling to balance his new family life with his murderous desires, Dexter begins to pursue a new target, The Trinity Killer, while working as a forensic pathologist.

Dexter realizes that he has inadvertently left behind crucial evidence that could expose his secret life. He also joins the investigation into new murders that Detective Lundy insists were carried out by the Trinity Killer.

Dexter causes chaos in the neighborhood due to his temporary inability to drive himself, and he becomes impressed by the Trinity Killer's art of how to carry out crimes.

After Dexter rests with Rita and the kids, he hunts down a new victim. However, he unexpectedly begins to sympathize with his target, a policewoman who killed her family.

As Dexter can't wait to investigate the Trinity Killer's case on his own, Debra blames herself for something out of her hands, and Rita discovers that she almost knows nothing about her husband after finding out one of his secrets.

Dexter decides to double down on his efforts to get ahead of the official investigation into Trinity's murder case. Moreover, he receives a piece of emotional advice about his troubled relationship with Rita from an unexpected source.

As Dexter finally finds the balance between his family, work, and secret life, he feels frustrated as he hunts down his new victim, and Debra unexpectedly becomes interested in her father's nefarious past.

Dexter questions whether his father's approach is the right path, and hopes to get answers by accompanying the Trinity Killer on a trip out of town. On the other hand, Debra discovers that her pursuit of the killer has blinded her to the truth.

As Dexter learns about Arthur's strange and twisted world, Rita prepares to host Thanksgiving dinner, and Debra uses the holiday to investigate and delve deeper into Trinity's murder case.

As Dexter reassesses his assumptions about Arthur after a ten-year-old boy goes missing, Cody defends one of Dexter's lies, and Masuka struggles to confront what he saw on Thanksgiving.

Dexter tries to buy time and protect himself after Debra's investigation leads to revealing the identity of the Trinity Killer. On the other hand, Rita confesses something to Dexter but is subsequently disappointed.

Rita realizes that her marriage to Dexter is having problems, and Debra unearths a startling, long-hidden truth as Dexter and Arthur find themselves headed toward disaster.
