Three months pass on Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans neighborhood of Tremé assembles a "second-line parade". Albert Lambreaux returns to his house, only to find out that the flood has demolished it, while LaDonna Batiste-Williams receives news about her brother, Daymo.
After Davis McAlary is fired from his DJ job, his father gets him a new job at a hotel. When LaDonna learns that Daymo is in prison, she goes to visit him, but is soon surprised that the prisoner is not her brother.
In favor of Toni bailing Davis out of prison, he gives piano lessons to her daughter, Sofia. Albert finds out about a terrifying discovery, while Annie holds her birthday party.
Antoine accompanies his sons on a holiday vacation to Baton Rouge. LaDonna and Toni investigate a false identity case in New Orleans. Dariusʼ aunt, Lula, invites Albert to her house to have dinner with them.
Albert presses on the city council member, Ron Singleton, asking why the housing projects are closed since Katrina, but Singleton says that it is none of his business. Davis turns to some local musicians to sing his anti-government anthem.
Toni monitors the former NOPD officer who arrested Daymo, hoping she could find him. Janette makes the hard decision of suspending operations. Davis’ political campaign works out as he sells CDs of his song and appears on TV.
Albert takes a decision that he soon regrets. Davis decides to withdraw the campaign in exchange for a "Get Out of Jail Free" card from a judge who supports another candidate. Toni and LaDonna discover that Daymo has died and refuse to explode the bombshell to LaDonna's mother.
New Orleans gets ready for the first Fat Tuesday celebration since Hurricane Katrina. Albert receives a message from the NOPD. LaDonna breaks her bad news to her mother about the death of Daymo.
Davis creates a medication for Mardi Gras. Annie criticizes Sonny's behavior, which results in Sonny's break up with her. Janette finds water seeping through the ceiling after her birthday gig. As Albert prepares for St. Joseph's Day, Colson warns him not to cause any violence.
As Creighton’s corpse is found, Toni refuses to fulfill his wish by playing the second line rhythm at his funeral. Albert and the Indians get ready with their costumes to celebrate St. Joseph's day.
