The time has come for Eli Shane, a 15-year-old boy just like any other, to be Slugterra's next Shane. To become a slugslinger, Eli must master the skill of fighting a duel with magically powerful creatures known as the slugs.

Eli Shane enters the slugslinging tournament that will prove his competence, but things don't go as he expected, and now he has to come face-to-face with his enemy, Dr. Blakk, who attempts to give Eli a corrupted slug.

After the Shane hideout is destroyed, Eli has to buy new gear, so he decides to trade Joules in order to purchase all of the equipment he needs, but when he goes back to retake his slug, he is shocked to discover that it has been sold to Dr. Blakk.

Believing that no one has the courage to fight them, the Hooligang, a trio of slingers who work for Dr. Blakk and fight using Ghoul Slugs, enters Quiet Lawn Cavern and wreaks havoc on the place, but they're soon proven wrong by Eli and his gang.

When the gang attends the weekend camp Club Slug to learn a variety of new skills, all of the slugs are taken into a machine that shoots them repeatedly, except for Eli's slug. Eli refuses to see eye to eye with the camp director, who gathers the rest of the slingers to go up against Eli's gang.

Eli sees an ad for the Slug Run race, and when he decides to join, Kord warns him that the race is not as easy as he thinks. Vance Volt wins the race and hands over the prize to Eli, despite the fact that Vance works for Blakk, but the prize is soon stolen by Sedo, one of Blakk's men.

When the Mechas malfunction, Kord believes it is the result of an update, and when they inspect the factory of Mecha Beasts, they discover that it has been taken over by Blakk, who is behind damaging the Mechas.

When Eli and the gang embark on a mission to inspect the Deadweed cavern, they discover that Dr. Blakk is using the Dark Water to brainwash innocent slugs and transform them into ghouls.

The Shane Gang is put in peril due to a shortcut through Shadow Clan territory, and as they get captured, an unexpected rescuer soon comes to their help.

A dishonest judge throws Pronto in jail, and Eli is the only one who can get him out, whereupon Eli enlists the help of Mario Bravado, the only master trick shooter in Slugterra who can assist Eli in making a trick shot.

As the Enigmo Slug, which has been long assumed a myth, is discovered, Eli and the gang manage to defeat Slugterra's most ferocious slug in order to have the Enigmo, but to their dismay, things don't go as they expected.

After the Shane Gang falls into a sea cavern while riding through the mysterious Flumes, a river that flows under Slugterra, they meet Pirate Captain Malvolio Drake.

As the gang decides to go to a mall to take some rest, they hear strange noises and discover the mall is teeming with zombies, whereupon they search for Mr. Saturday, who controls the zombies, to put an end to the chaos.
