When Kenan, a widowed father raising his two children, is forced to talk about his late wife, Cori, on his show, he becomes defensive and unintentionally offends his audience.

Kenan persuades Mika to include a "hard news" segment in the show to avoid going to Cori's favorite restaurant. Elsewhere, while going through Cori's untouched closet, Kenan and Gary reveal what they think is a dark secret Cori was hiding.

Kenan's father-in-law, Rick, encourages him to stand up to Mika when she adds a fourth hour to his show, causing his work/life balance to be disrupted.

Kenan decides to start dating again after learning about Mika's failed engagements, despite Rick's disapproval. Meanwhile, Mika plays a trick on Kenan, making him hit his guest as she turns out to be her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend.

Kenan starts questioning Gary's management when the former's old bandmate visits the show for a band reunion.

After Kenan thinks that Cori has come back as a squirrel, he fears that he can never be as good a parent as his wife was. Meanwhile, Gary and Rick decide on throwing Kenan a surprise birthday party.

When Kenan and Gary's widowed mother, Bobbi, comes for a visit, they are shocked to see how much she has changed, forcing Kenan to fake an injury to get her attention.

As Mika wants to include a "marriage" segment in the show to raise money from ads, Kenan realizes that he does not know everything about romance when he ruins the segment. Later on, the latter explores his attraction to Mira while they are at a wedding party.

Rick holds a make-up class for the kids when the teachers go on a strike causing the show's crew to bring them to work. Meanwhile, Mira and Kenan go through an experience that gets them closer to each other.

As the annual Atlanta Hair Show, one of Cori's favorite events, is approaching, Kenan, Rick, Gary, and Mika prepare the girls for it. Meanwhile, Kenan is considering moving to L.A. after receiving a sitcom offer there.

While the team is getting ready for the annual show segment for the holidays, Gary seeks a new client, leaving Kenan upset. Meantime, Mika feels that her work is being taken for granted.
