Twilight Sparkle embarks on a quest to find a crown which has suddenly disappeared from the Crystal Empire, but as she chases after the culprit who has gone through a mirror, she is shocked to find that she's become a human after arriving in the new world.

When three new students are transferred to Canterlot High, their magical powers turn a normal musical showcase into a battle between the bands. As it's revealed that the new students are actually after world conquest, it's up to Twilight Sparkle and her friends to stop them and save everyone.

With the looming competition between their school and Crystal Prep Academy, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and the others gear up for a fight to win the cup for the Friendship Games for once, an endeavor that becomes more difficult when they learn that Twilight Sparkle is on the other team.
Soon after Equestria Girls depart Canterlot High School for a field trip to Camp Everfree, they start to notice unusual things when magic begins to wreak havoc on the camp, upon which they work together to control the magic or the camp will be destroyed.
