As Sherbini has twins from his wife Kahila, his other wife Bahia loses her head, kills one of his kids, and tells him that he stopped breathing, but he knows she killed him. As the years pass, Sherbini grows old, and Kahila and Bahia die, but the latter gives birth to a girl named Salila.

Sherbini gets angry with his grandson, Shaker, Salila's son, while Sumaya asks her husband, Mufid, that they leave Al Sayeda Zainab district, but he refuses.

Layla embarrasses Shaker, Mufid, and Abdo after she finds them in her mother Kadrya's house and asks them to leave. Salila goes to Gibril's house and tells him that she has a plan to help him become the chief of the district and replace Sherbini.

Sumaya quarrels with Mufid and decides to leave the house. Elsewhere, Shahira refuses her daughter Lubna's request to marry Jihad, who asks for Lubna's hand in marriage, but her mother Shahira and her father Shaker turn him down.

Hajj Sherbini gets angry after learning that Shaker and Shahira refused to marry Jihad, Abdo's son, to their daughter Lubna, who tries to avoid Jihad so that she does not face him after her family rejected him against her will.

As Shaker asks his brother Mufid to give up his position as head of the department in the college to him, Mufid gets angry at his brother's request after he feels that he is more deserving of the position, but he eventually agrees so that he doesn't upset his brother.

Jihad tells Lubna that he still loves her and will never abandon her, and Lubna reciprocates his feelings and tells him that her parents' decision to reject their marriage was without her consent.

Salila agrees with Kadrya and her daughter Layla on getting inside Hajj Sherbini's house through Kadrya's marriage to Hajj Abdul Hadi and Layla's marriage to Jihad. Meanwhile, Abdul Hadi asks his father that he marry Kadrya, but Sherbini warns him about her.

Salila devises a plan to get rid of Hajj Sherbini in order to control the rest of the family and reach her goal. On the other hand, Mufid divorces Sumaya.

Lubna asks her grandfather Abdul Hadi to pressure her father Shaker into agreeing to her marriage to her sweetheart Jihad. Abu El Makarem watches Salila and finds that she goes to the room of an old lady, who is the spitting image of her.

As it turns out that Bahia did not die as everyone thinks, Salila asks her mother, Bahia, to forgive her for not visiting her for a while.

After Abdul Hadi marries Kadrya, his father, Sherbini, gets angry with him, then falls ill. As Salila goes to her mother, Bahia, and tells her what happened, she rejoices at what she heard.

Layla tells her mother, Kadrya, that she has made a final decision to marry Gibril. Sherbini tells his son Abdul Hadi that his days are numbered in this world and asks him to preserve the family after he's gone.

Gibril holds his and Layla's wedding, but Abdul Hadi orders him to postpone the wedding, especially since his ex-wife's iddah (waiting period) has not ended.

As Sheikh Abdul Hadi learns that his son Abdo is very angry at his marriage to Kadrya, Abdo tells his father that he feels that his grandfather Sherbini is upset with him after he married Kadrya and is thinking about not relying on him for any of his affairs henceforth.

Abdo gets angry as he feels that his grandfather, Hajj Sherbini, favors his brother, Mufid, over the rest of his siblings. Meanwhile, Sherbini leaves the house without telling anyone, and the whole family looks for the grandfather everywhere.

Abdul Hadi gathers his three children and tells them that his father will never pass the torch on to Shaker because of his greed and arrogance; moreover, Abdul Hadi asks his children to keep the situation as it is until his father returns.

Salila takes her mother, Bahia, and brings her home after learning that Hajj Sherbini is gone, whereupon Lubna feels afraid of Bahia and asks her grandfather, Abdul Hadi, to kick her out of the house, but he fears that people might talk.

As Salila learns that Kadrya is pregnant with her husband's child, she goes crazy and plots to have it aborted. When Abu El Makarem returns to Al Sayeda Zainab district, his mother rejoices at his return.

Kadrya goes to her daughter, Layla, and asks her to stand by her husband, Gibril, in his illness and to appreciate and preserve the gift with which she has been blessed.

Bahia asks her daughter Salila to control the family after Hajj Sherbini has left the house, upon which Salila asks her son Shaker to try to find out about the money and property of his grandfather Sherbini and to get closer to his father.

Salila stirs up trouble against Kadrya, telling her husband, Abdul Hadi, that Kadrya is slipping him pills, which the doctor told her that whoever takes them without medical supervision becomes paralyzed.

As Sheikh Abdul Hadi gets sick, he asks Salila to take him to visit his son Mufid. Bahia asks Salila to try to delay Abdul Hadi's meeting with Mufid.

As Siddiq discovers that Rouh took her things and wants to leave the house and his brother Abu El Makarem, he tries to stop her. Abu El Makarem comes to the house, and Rouh accuses Siddiq of trying to assault her.

When Sheikh Abdul Hadi gets sick, Salila sees him on his sickbed, and smothers him till he dies.

Salila prepares her son Shaker to become the head of the family. Layla asks her lover to kill her husband as soon as he gets out of prison, telling him that she will marry him in return.

Heba asks Sumaya for all the money in her husband Mufid's bank account in return for not telling the prosecution that it was her son Louay, not Mufid, who killed her son Mustafa. Shaker replaces his grandfather Sherbini in the council and issues a ruling in the matter of Layla and her husband Gibril's kids.

Lubna tells her lover Jihad that she will never evade him again and asks him to ask for her hand in marriage again, and she will pressure her family this time to agree. Layla tries to get close to Abdo, but he doesn't care.

The police officer tells Mufid that the coroner confirmed in his report that Mustafa was killed by a bullet other than the one he fired at him, and the officer agrees with Mufid to break him out of prison in order to arrest the real criminal.

Mufid escapes from prison in agreement with the police officer. As Rouh tells Murad that she is pregnant with his child, he loses his head and tells her that he does not believe her. Jihad suspects that his uncle Shaker had a hand in the killing of Mustafa.

Lubna finds her grandfather Sherbini's will, in which he instructs that the council and its sheikhdom, after he is gone, should go to one of his righteous sons, and if there aren't any, they should go to Siddiq. As Salila sees the will, she takes it from Lubna against her will.

After she learns that her daughter Lubna is sick at her grandmother Salila's house, Shahira asks her husband Shaker that she take Lubna with her to the villa, especially after she strongly suspects that her grandmother Salila cast some spell on her that made her unable to speak.

Lubna gets angry at her parents, rejects the new suitor, and tells them that she will only marry her beloved Jihad.

Salila tells her son Shaker that his grandfather Sherbini signed over everything to Abdo and Mufid and left him nothing. Meanwhile, Layla learns that Abdo has fallen into her trap and that he has begun to become attached to her.

Sumaya suspects that Heba is the one who sent a killer to finish off her son. As Mufid calls to check on his son Louay, Sumaya asks him to come to see him.

When Lubna overhears her parents talking about their plans to get rid of Sherbini and Mufid and their rejection of her lover Jihad, she collapses and tries to commit suicide. Abdo tells Layla that he is thinking of never leaving her at home alone again and of marrying her.

Abu El Makarem dies after instructing that his cornea be donated to his brother Siddiq. Kadrya meets Sheikh Sherbini and asks him to return to Al Sayeda Zainab district, but he tells her that the time for his departure has not yet come.

Kadrya tells Sheikh Sherbini that Salila's mother has returned and is currently living in her house in the area. Shahira calls her husband Shaker and tells him that his daughter Lubna is not at home.

Rouh reports Murad to the police. Elsewhere, Mufid learns that Salila is the cause of all the misfortunes and disasters that have befallen the family since the departure of his grandfather, Sherbini.

Kadrya returns to the home of Sherbini's family, after which she asks Shaker that she stay in the apartment of her late husband, Abdul Hadi, and he agrees. Salila gets angry about Kadrya's presence in the house and tries to kick her out.

Salila devises a plan to get rid of Kadrya. As Siddiq notices that Samar is attracted to him, he tells her how he feels about her, while Mufid decides to return to Al Sayeda Zainab district.

As Mufid returns to Al Sayeda Zainab district with his wife Nariman and her son Ahmed, he is received by his brother Abdo. Maryam gets angry with her father after learning that he married another woman besides her mother. Kadrya tells Salila that she won't leave the house no matter what happens.

Nariman tries to get close to Maryam. Abdo tells his brother Mufid that the prosecution released him after making sure of his innocence. He also tells him that the officer in charge of the case suspects Ezzat.

Abdo learns from Lubna that his grandfather, Sheikh Sherbini, left a will before he left, and that the will is in the possession of Salila. After Salila refuses to give Abdo the will, he gets it from her room.

Sheikh Shaaban refuses the presenter Hala's request after she asked him to defame Dr. Mufid and pronounce him an infidel, and he leaves the program. Nariman gets angry after seeing Hala launching a big campaign against her husband, Mufid, and asks him to respond.

Mufid quarrels with Abdo after he learns that Abdo burned the will, whereupon Mufid quarrels with Shaker after he learns that his mother Salila is the one who hid the will, and he makes sure that he knew its content even before Abdo saw it and burned it.

Abdo tells his siblings about what was written in the will of their grandfather, Sherbini. Rouh goes to Siddiq and asks him to raise his late brother Abu El Makarem's son in his home.

Siddiq decides to visit Sherbini at his home to check on him, especially since he saw him in his dreams more than once. Mufid asks his daughter Maryam to give Nariman a chance to get to know her.

Siddiq asks for his sweetheart Samar's hand in marriage from her father Abdo, who agrees. Jihad tries to pressure Ezzat to divorce Lubna, but Ezzat refuses and tells him that he will never divorce her.

Lubna suspects that her father Shaker is the one who killed Mustafa. The youths of the neighborhood gather and go to Dr. Mufid, asking him to leave Al Sayeda district after the publication of his book and the discussion of him being an infidel because of the book on sites and programs.

Jihad is released from prison, while Kadrya tries to guide Shaker to the path of righteousness and piety before it is too late. After talking to Kadrya, Shaker decides to go to the same place where his grandfather, Sheikh Sherbini, stayed, to better himself.

Sherbini appears to his grandson Shaker and tells him that he is happy with what he has reached and with his renouncing worldly matters. He also tells him that he left him a great inheritance, not money or land contracts, but a priceless legacy.

Shaker meets Heba and tells her that Ezzat is the one who killed her son, Mustafa. On the other hand, Shaker agrees to wed his daughter, Samar, to Jihad.

Maryam defends her father Mufid and attacks the presenter Hala, after which the head of the channel fires Hala. Elsewhere, Shahira tells Mufid that his brother Shaker knew that Ezzat had killed Mustafa, but he accused him of being the killer to the prosecution.

Mufid quarrels with Salila, asks her to leave the house, and tells her she has no place among them, and neither does her son Shaker. Mufid tells his brother Abdo that although Shaker knew the truth about Ezzat's killing of Mustafa, he bore false witness in front of the prosecution to get rid of him.

Gibril's children learn that Layla has forged their father's seal and signature. Meanwhile, Kadrya tells Abdo that her daughter Layla does not love him as he thinks, and she warns him about her.

When Abdo learns the truth about Layla and her love for his son Jihad, he loses his head and kicks her out of the house. As Sheikh Sherbini wakes up from the coma, he asks Shaker to bring his two brothers, Abdo and Mufid, then asks them to bury the hatchet.

Shaker asks his brother to forgive him for what he did to him and tells him that he is deeply regretful. Elsewhere, Salila tells Sherbini that she will assist with the birth of Kadrya's baby, especially given her serious condition.

Kadrya gives birth to her son, whom Sheikh Sherbini names (Yahya). As Salila asks Sheikh Sherbini that she stay and live in the house, he agrees. Mufid forgives his brother Shaker for what he did to him and his injustice toward him.

As the family reunites, Sherbini gathers his grandchildren around him and asks Abdo, Mufid, and Shaker to never sever the ties of kinship among them, even after he is gone.
