In London in 1872, Phileas Fogg receives a postcard from a long-lost love and takes on a near-impossible bet to circumnavigate the world in just 80 days, joined by Jean Passepartout and journalist Abigail Fix to document the journey.
The trio reaches the heart of the Italian countryside and boards a train to Brindisi. However, on the train, Fogg's self-esteem is shattered by the sneering of an arrogant man, worrying Abigail and Passepartout even before disaster strikes.
The trio are stranded on the coast of Yemen, and Fogg decides to hire a guide to cross the Empty Quarter with Passepartout, leaving Abigail behind. However, their guide turns out to be a thief and abandons them in the desert, and they find themselves caught in a sandstorm.
The trio is stranded in an Indian village that is busy preparing for a wedding. Passepartout is bribed to cause further delays, causing Fogg to lose the bet. Meanwhile, Fogg tries to intervene to prevent British soldiers from arresting the groom.
The trio arrive in Hong Kong to find Fogg a celebrity, but circumstances turn against them and they remain in the city. Passepartout tries to help, however, he only makes things worse, and Abigail discovers that she is the reason for Fogg's newfound fame.
The trio are stranded on a desert island, and when the secrets they're hiding threaten their strong friendship, they must learn to forgive and work together to reach their next stop in time.
The trio travels through the Rocky Mountains to catch the transcontinental railroad, and Fogg allows a lawman and his prisoner to share their rented wagon, unaware that the prisoner's friends are after him, leading to a violent confrontation.
The trio arrives in New York and finds the whole city talking about them, but Fogg risks the bet to find his lost love and discovers that the greatest challenge still awaits him. Meanwhile, Abigail and Passepartout prepare to return to London.
