Set in a small town in Mississippi; after the rich widow Jewel Mae 'Cookie' Orcutt commits suicide, Camille, her assertive niece, gets rid of the suicide note to make it appear as a robbery, hoping to save the good name of her family. However, things take a turn as the police start suspecting Cookie's best friend of having murdered her.
