It centers on the experimental unit of the Los Angeles Police Department in Farmington County, Los Angeles, which is based in a church and consists of a group of detectives known as the Strike Team.
In the second season, Strike Team devises a plan to rob the Armenian mafia by destroying their important operation. Meanwhile, the police attempt to capture a rogue child named Armadillo Quintero, who is trying to take control of the local drug trade.
The team deals with the fallout from the money train robbery that sparked a manhunt between them and the Armenian mafia. While trying to close the unresolved business, they must deal with the supervision of Claudette Wyms while David Aceveda prepares for the city council elections.
In season 4, as Captain Aceveda transitions to his new position at the City Council, Captain Monica Rowling prepares to take command and carry out her controversial anti-gang policies.

In Season 5, as Strike Team tries to end a race war between Blacks and Mexicans, Dutch and Claudette investigate a high school riot also sparked by racial tensions. On the other hand, Lem's loyalty is tested when Lieutenant Kavanaugh and Aceveda interrogate him about the team's corrupt past.
