With the nuns losing one of them as Shelagh gets married, the covenant welcomes a new nun, Sister Winifred. Jenny gets a promotion that causes tension to rise between her and Trixie, who had her eyes on the position Jenny got.

As the 1960s begin, new faces arrive at Nonnatus House, shaking things up as the current staff tries to accommodate and adjust to the new arrivals.

Delia makes a decision that leads her to Nonnatus House. Sister Evangelina battles doubt about her place when her expressed opinion leads to unexpected consequences.

As a new year starts, the nuns and midwives have their own personal battles and face the hard decisions they have to make both in their lives and their line of work.

The midwives continue caring for their various patients, including a Filipino family whose traditions impact the medical intervention they are willing to accept, and a pregnant widow struggling in the wake of her husband's death.

The stories of midwives and the nuns of Nonnatus House continue as Sisters Julienne and Winifred are summoned to the Mother House where a new candidate must be elected as the new Superior.

The midwives face new challenges as the population changes along with the rules they abide by, and old diseases make a comeback, all while their own personal lives are filled by turmoil, love, loss, and doubt.

Season 10 takes place in 1966, as Nonnatus House forms a working partnership with the private clinic the Lady Emily, which is revealed to be carrying out illegal abortions, while the midwives back in Poplar continue to deal with various illnesses.

Lucille plans her wedding to Cyril, but things don't go according to plan as they encounter obstacles that put the entire wedding at risk, while work in Poplar uncovers a buried secret that puts the nursing staff to the test.

As the nuns welcome a new arrival to join them, Nurse Shelagh cares for a critically ill baby. However, gastroenteritis wreaks havoc on the dormitory, and Nurse Keren fights to save her career.

This season, the nurses embark on a new training program and take in a mother with cerebral palsy who is facing a complicated delivery. Moreover, the countdown begins with the launch of the Apollo 8 mission to the moon, which will change the country's history in December 1968.
