After Al Ayashi's injury, Falha and the other miners demand that the French manager Daniel raise their salary and give them hazard pay, but he refuses. Al Safi helps Al Ayashi and his family. Hilal and Daniel seek to suspend several miners after their strike. Hilal asks Al Safi for his share in the café.

Zeina, Al Safi's daughter, refuses to marry Rabah's son until she finishes her studies. Al Fadel returns to the capital to finish his medical education and is inspired by his aunt's husband, Bayram, the head of a newspaper that opposes the French protectorate.

Belkacem is taken to the clinic after being injured in the mine and dies. Falha and the rest of the workers go on strike to demand their rights. Bayram travels on a mission, leaving his wife with Al Fadel. Typhoid fever spreads throughout Tunisia.

Falha refuses to accept condolences for her husband until she takes revenge on Daniel and Hilal. She helps her friend Taija by putting poison in their food. Hilal launches an investigation to find out who the culprit is but fails to uncover him.

Karkoub gives the document that Sheeha gave him to a public clerk to read. He tells him that it's the will of Al Safi and Hilal's father and that it states that the property is to be divided equally among his kids. Zahwa, Hilal's wife, secretly travels with Daniel to the capital for infertility treatment.

Upon returning home, Houria becomes angry about Al Fadel's presence and argues with her mother. Houria reconciles with her father, Bayram, and the misunderstanding between her and Al Fadel ends. The relationship between Daniel and Zahwa strengthens, and Al Safi reconciles with Sheeha.

Daniel and Hilal agree to some of Falha and the others' conditions, especially Taija's return to work in the mine. Karkoub tells Al Safi about the document he got from Sheeha. Zeina decides to escape the valley with Falha and Karkoub's help to avoid marrying the suitor her father, Al Safi, brought.

Zeina manages to reach the capital and live with Falha's friend. Suwailih tries to get closer to Falha, and Al Safi's psychological state deteriorates due to his daughter's escape. Zahwa becomes pregnant and tells Daniel, who promises to run away together.

Al Fadel returns to the valley, taking Houria with him. Daniel begins to avoid Zahwa after she becomes pregnant. Sheeha begins a relationship with Muhaimid, and they agree to escape together once they seize Al Safi's property.

Karkoub reassures Al Fadel that Zeina is living with a family in the capital until she finishes school. Zahwa urges Hilal to undergo a sterility test. Falha establishes a workers' union, and the mine workers go on strike again to demand their rights and independence from the colonizers.

Daniel is taken to the clinic after being assaulted by a worker. Camelia treats him, and their relationship grows stronger. After the newspaper is closed, Bayram assumes the leadership of the resistance coalition against French colonialism.

The miners revolt against French colonialism, and citizens from all over the republic join them in a protest demanding the end of the French protectorate and the independence of Tunisia. Al Fadel and a group of journalists are detained by the occupation forces.

The French general's daughter is kidnapped and he is required to release the detainees to save his daughter. Bayram denies any involvement, and Abdel Salam and Suwailih escape from detention.

Zahwa kills Daniel with a knife in his office, and one of the guards kills Abdel Salam, while Suwailih manages to escape. Al Fadel and his two colleagues are released after the general receives his daughter.

Zahwa flees to the capital. Al Safi, Taija, Falha, and Sheeha are arrested on charges of hiding information about the organization of labor unions. Suwailih gets Al Safi and the others out of prison, but Al Safi objects to Sheeha's release after discovering her betrayal. Al Fadel proposes to Houria.
