In 1876, a secret group of Irish immigrant coal miners known as the Molly Maguires, based in Pennsylvania, embark on a campaign of sabotage to exact revenge on the cruelty of the mine owners and their working conditions. An undercover policeman joins them to expose the group and report its members, but he ends up sympathizing with them, and events unfold.
