Lack of proof prevents managing editor Samuel Brad from publishing Frank Canfield's disappearance and bank theft. Samuel is shifted to the social section to edit the heart-focused "Hello, Nelly" column when every other newspaper picks up the story. Samuel makes the column famous despite his frustration, but he wants to return to his old job, so he pursues Frank and the money.
