Taking place during wartime, it follows a couple's struggle between escaping the scourge of war and staying in defense of the homeland. Khalil, the doll maker, refuses to leave his home, while his wife, Reem, insists on fleeing for fear that the house will collapse under the bombing, embodying the theme of attachment to the land and facing destiny.
