It follows a shoe shiner, and poses a symbolic struggle between the different groups of society - the rich, the educated, the powerful, and the expatriate - over who is more deserving of attention. As an earthquake erupts, everyone is forced to take shelter in an underground train station, as each person declares the importance of their work, revealing the rejection of societal disintegration.
