Dagwood receives an expensive wristwatch to give to the bank secretary, hoping it will help him convince the bank president to award his company a huge construction contract. However, Blondie believes the watch is a wedding gift, and Dagwood, not daring to correct the misunderstanding, buys her a cheap watch instead. His deception is eventually discovered, and he is fired, but Blondie intervenes to save the day.
