The 27th Cairo International Film Festival was held at the Cairo Opera House from October 7 to 17, 2003. The festival featured 190 films from 50 countries, with France chosen as the guest of honor of this edition, contributing more than 50 films. Nineteen films competed in the official competition, representing Croatia, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, China, Russia, Sweden, Indonesia, Spain, South Korea, France, Tunisia, Syria, Palestine, and Egypt.
