27th Cairo International Film Festival

The 27th Cairo International Film Festival was held at the Cairo Opera House from October 7 to 17, 2003. The edition was dedicated to the late actress Amina Rizk, and the festival also paid special tribute to a number of artists who passed away in the same year, including Sanaa Gamil, Mohamed Tawfiq, Mohamed Ahmed El-Masry, and Alaa Wali El Din, in addition to directors Hussein Kamal and Sherif...Read more Yehia, screenwriters Mohsen Zayed and Ahmed Abdel Wahab, and editor Adel Mounir. The festival featured 190 films from 50 countries, with France chosen as the guest of honor of this edition, contributing more than 50 films. Nineteen films competed in the official competition, representing Croatia, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, China, Russia, Sweden, Indonesia, Spain, South Korea, France, Tunisia, Syria, Palestine, and Egypt.
