An Egyptian writer, novelist, and translator who was born on December 30, 1872 in Manfalut, Asyut, Upper Egypt. He is considered one of the most notable figures of Egyptian literature at the beginning of the modern era. He grew up in a family known for piety and love of science. He studied at Al-Azhar for ten years and devoted his life to studying literature. He debuted his career in 1907 with the weekly articles he published in Al-Moayyad newspaper under the title "Glances" in 1909 which was published in three parts, with some other books that he translated from French. He is best known for the movie Everybody Is Singing (1947). He died on July 12, 1924.
