A Lebanese poet, born in Beirut in 1885, and died there on July 31, 1968. He received his initial education in the Koranic school. He established El Barq newspaper in 1908, which continued to be published until 1933, when the French authorities closed it and revoked its franchise permanently. He dedicated his life to defend his nation and mobilize it against colonialism and Zionism. His poetry was characterized by its originality and elegance of style. He was influenced by the revival movements of contemporary Arabic poetry. He published a collection of poetry, Love and Youth, in 1953, and another, The Poetry of the Young Al-Akhtal, in 1961.
