He was born in 1948 in Tangiers. He continued his studies in Paris in dramatic arts and directing. He spent two years in the same city, where he participated in the activities of the International Theater in Paris. He directed and acted in several plays in 1974. In 1977 he directed his first feature film A wound in the wall, which he participated in in the Cannes festival within the Critique Week corner. He established a production company called Hercules Film in 1981. In the same year, he directed the movie Brides from Cane, which was also selected to participate in the same festival, as part of the Directors' Weeks segment. In 2005 he directed the film The Detained Memory, which did not deviate from the rule, and won the Grand Prize at the Tetouan Festival of Mediterranean Cinema and the Screenplay Award at the Cairo Film Festival, after which he directed the movie At Dawn.
